Full Circle Wellness, the holistic approach to Kinesiology, Nutrition & Fitness

Change of Seasons

by Claire, 2 years ago

Spring is nearly here! Whoo hoo! As one season is over and another arrives, let’s take a moment to reflect on how to make this new season your most enjoyable yet! Our wonderful and much loved intern from Texas, Julienne, shares her thoughts!

Seasons

Hi!
Claire has asked me to write a little post for y’all and I was so delighted when she did. I’ve missed Cape Town so incredibly much and can’t believe so much time has passed already! For those of you who are new to Full Circle Wellness, I was Claire’s intern from Texas back in early 2013 – watching how she ran her business, learning from what she did, and admiring her drive and passion for health.

It has been a bit intimidating deciding what to write! Being as it is the last blog of the winter and, with the seasons changing, I thought that I would incorporate exploration and risk taking into the realm of health and wellness. If you’re not taking a step outside of your comfort zone, what are you doing? How do you feel? and why? It’s so important to never stop doing what makes us feel uncomfortable so that we may always be learning, growing, and evolving. Then take the time to appreciate the little moments, where we feel at home and at peace; but never get too comfortable. If you are wanting to improve the quality of your life, you will find a way to do so, and take action.
The times that I spent in Cape Town, especially at Full Circle Wellness, were some of the best times of my life and impacted me more than I could have imagined. All it took was one tiny idea, and I eventually mapped out the steps that would get me there. You’re never going to know how your life is going to change based on your decisions; but if it weren’t for Claire re-routing her life to follow her passion of health and fitness, start up her own company, and live out her purpose, none of us would be here or have the pleasure of having this community. All it takes is you deciding to make it happen. The best part is that you doing so, will cause a ripple effect. Without knowing, you’re going to inspire somebody to do the exact same thing.

“It’s the people who make enjoying their lives a priority who… enjoy their lives.”
– Jen Sincero

I hope that this summer – with all the beauty that is in Cape Town – you’re going to take full advantage to nourish your mind, your body, and your soul. You are in no better place to do so, in my opinion ðŸ™‚

Make the following list of five a high priority in your life in order to create good habits and create your most enjoyable life.
1. MOVE. Hike, bike, run, walk, swim, skip, cart-wheel, and of course attend Full Circle Wellness classes. Enjoy what your beautiful city has to offer and make sure that you are taking care of your body by making it go. Your body produces endorphins and dopamine when you workout, which are the chemicals that make us feel happy as well as mask pain. The thing is, the are selfish and, unfortunately, don’t last long term. Once your body experiences them, it will want you to continue the habit (in this case, moving) again and again. All you have to do is to decide you’re going to get up and go ðŸ™‚
2. NOURISH. You’ll never feel better than when you choose the right foods to eat! I once heard that when you’re eating healthy, all of your cells will be ‘happy.’ I never understood until I changed my diet. Make sure that you are eating with a healthy balance of 80% nourishing, healthy, green, clean, and lean foods and leave about 20% room for the more adventurous, favorites, and just plain cheats. 85/15 if you’re being really good! Your cells will say “Thank You!”
3. LAUGH. Spend time with friends, family, and make new relationships. Appreciate the people that you have in your life and make them a priority <3
4. EXPLORE & TAKE RISKS. Go on a trip! Go to a city you’ve never been before, a mountain you’ve never hiked, a festival or concert you’ve always wanted to go to. Go sky diving, bungee jumping, or paragliding. Take a cooking class, a dance class, or go to a play. Apply for a job that you’ve been hesitating to commit to. Do five things this summer that you have never done before. Is there something you’ve always wanted to do, but have been holding back?
5. RELAX. If you’re work-o-holic, make sure you are treating yourself to more than a couple of afternoon/evenings off. Get your nails done, get a massage, invest in some nice bath salts and bubble bath, lay out by the beach, find your favorite lotions and candles, go wine tasting, enjoy a picnic in the garden. Just enjoy the simple things. Even venture into a little yoga practice – attend a class or google some videos online for beginners – there is nothing better than starting your morning with that kind of peace.

“Peace is an attribute in you. you cannot find it outside. Illness is some form of external, searching. Health is inner peace.”
– A Course in Miracles

much love!
