Full Circle Wellness, the holistic approach to Kinesiology, Nutrition & Fitness

What’s in your refrigerator?

by Claire, 2 years ago

Okay, first thing’s first. We need to clean up our fridge. Fact is that we can work out as much as we want and as hard as we want, but the deal breaker is what we are putting into our bodies. Our bodies want real food. Not the crap that is processed and loaded with chemicals. This includes the foods that we could grow in a garden and the foods that only include the absolutely necessary ingredients.

Think about food as your fuel. In a Full Circle Wellness Bootcamp class I attended during my internship, the ladies were talking one morning before class and one woman’s s son had filled her gas tank with…sand and dishwashing liquid. After that, did it work? It certainly didn’t and was rather costly, as well.

Our bodies work the same way. It cannot run properly if we’re putting crap into it. We need to put the right fuel in it so that all systems are working smoothly.

Tips for eating right:

  • Stay away from the middle isles in the grocery store as much as possible. I find that is where the preservative-filled foods are found.
  • Buy your fruits and veggies! They are full of fiber, which help you to feel full so you don’t go back for seconds and thirds.
  • Don’t buy white breads. White starches are just empty calories. They have little nutrition and do no good for the body. If you’re buying a starch – go with whole wheat or grains.
  • Drink water! Set a goal for yourself. ~ I try to drink half my body weight in ounces (sorry for using American units with you) of water every day…or more. That way I know I am getting plenty of water to hydrate my body and really flushing my system. I’ve included a table converting pounds to kilos and ounces to liters so you can know how much water you should be drinking. Additionally, when you are feeling hungry, drink a glass of water before going to the pantry. Your body is often just thirsty when your conscious brain is telling you something different. Drinking water will do just the trick.
